SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME

24 scientific programs are being convened over the four days of the Conjoint Annual Scientific Congress, It could not be made possible without the close liaison between the conveners and executives from Melbourne and Hong Kong for over past 12 months.

Especially catered for the interests of Fellows and Trainees of both Colleges,   co-convener in Hong Kong  and conveners in Melbourne for each of the scientific program work closelt to bring the programs together.
¡¥Achievement through Collaboration¡¦is the overall theme for the congress and, for a handful number of combined sessions, great emphasis is put on this important aspect of how surgeons apply themselves to their daily practice.  The theme will be further promoted with the participation of the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons.

A Conjoint Award and Diploma Ceremony will kick off the Combined Congress on the evening of Monday 12 May, bringing together the important ceremonial elements of both Colleges. The Ceremony will be held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from 4.30pm - 6.00pm followed by a Welcome Reception from 6.00pm to 7.00pm.

The following four days (Tuesday 13 May to Friday 16 May), scientific programs will be held over setting the new model for future Congresses, in response to feedback from delegates.  Breakfast sessions and Master classes will be held from 7am to 8.20am.

An invited panel of experts and a moderator will be present in each master class to address an important topic or topics within a specialty in a more didactic and personal manner. Whilst the Master classes have been designed by Section Conveners with Surgical Trainees in mind, all delegates will be welcome to register for any Master class.

Apart from the Breakfast sessions and Master classes, the plenary program will cover contemporary and controversial topics including:

- Doing More With Less ¡V Improved Bed Utilisation
- Minimally Invasive Surgery ¡V The Future For All Surgeons
- Credentialling for New Technology ¡V Who is Responsible?
- Identifying and Helping the Under ¡V Performing Surgeon

The plenary program will be followed by a named lecture.  For the remainder of each day, Scientific sessions will be held and there will be section dinners in the evenings with a spectacular Congress Banquet on Thursday evening.
