    I am reaching out to you on behalf of the American College of Surgeons to share scholarship opportunities available for surgeons outside the United States and Canada. Please communicate these opportunities to your members, colleagues, and networks, and reach out with any questions.


    Vascular or Cardio-Thoracic Surgery

    The John D. Corson Guest Scholarship – Surgeons in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland Only

    A single John Duncan Corson Guest Scholarship will be awarded each year, in the amount of up to $10,000, to provide an academic Vascular or Cardio-thoracic surgeon residing in the United Kingdom (UK) or The Republic of Ireland (ROI) with the opportunity to attend and participate fully in the educational activities of the ACS annual Clinical Congress and additionally to travel to academic medical institutions in the USA to share knowledge of best practices and current surgical research. The scholarship will alternate each year between Vascular and Cardio-thoracic surgery specialties. Applications are due April 8, 2022.


    Trauma Surgery

    ACS/AAST International Scholarship

    This scholarship will be awarded to surgeons specifically working in acute care surgery: trauma and emergency general surgery in countries other than the U.S. and Canada to improve the quality of acute care surgical services. Preference will be given to applicants from developing nations. The scholarship, in the amount of $5,000, provides the scholar with an opportunity to attend the annual meeting of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) and to visit one or two Level I Trauma Centers and/or the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) headquarters at the American College of Surgeons in Chicago, IL, to learn about the standards for a trauma program/database and the importance of multidisciplinary Acute Care surgery care. Applications are due April 15.


    Surgical Education

    International Scholarships for Surgical Education

    The ACS Division of Education and International Relations Committee are pleased to announce two international scholarships focused on surgical education. These awards provide young faculty members from countries other than the United States and Canada with the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational opportunities for faculty development and enhancement that will result in the acquisition of new knowledge and skills in surgical education and training.

    Applications are due April 22.
